This microchip is injected just under skin on the scruff of the neck. It only takes a minute to have your dog permanently identified and is much like giving your puppy a vaccination. Why Microchip my puppy??? If you think about it, your dog could get lost or stolen and if he or she is wearing a collar, it could either fall off or easily removed by someone who wants your dog. If you get your puppy tattooed, it will fade after a couple of years, even if done by a professional. However, if you get your puppy microchipped, it is permanant! Should your puppy end up in a shelter, dog pound or vet's office, they will scan your dog around the shoulder blades to see if he or she has a microchip. So I guess the bottom line is... Collars fall off, Tattoos fade away... But Microchips are here to stay! What does it cost to Microchip my puppy??? We can microchip your puppy before he or she leaves our home. The cost for us to microchip your puppy is $20.00. This is slightly over our cost. We offer this because it would break our hearts to hear that one of our babies were either lost or stolen. You can also ask your vet to microchip your puppy. He will probably charge $35.00 to $75.00. Either way, we strongly suggest that you microchip your puppy. Are there any other charges when microchipping??? Yes, there is a one-time $10.00 fee to register your puppy's microchip number. You will be given all the information to fill out, including your name, number, and address and the name, number, and address of your vet. You then send in the registration information to the national registry. At any time you can call the National Registry and have the registration information changed in the event that you would move. Is there a tag that I can put on my dog's collar for identification??? Yes,also included is a tag that you will put on your dog's collar. The tag has you dog's microchip identification number, along with the toll-free 800-telephone number to allow someone without a hand scanner to access owner information and return your lost dog. |
